Message to Parents

Dear parent or guardian,

As a teacher, I am proud to deliver high-quality and engaging education. I am also proud to be able to do so under the exceptional circumstances that have required the full closure of our campus. In such circumstances, my professional commitment is to provide an alternative means of education in the form of the Distance Learning. Distance Learning emulates the experience that students would normally have in my classroom while they are working remotely. 

Although there is no substitute for face-to-face teaching and learning, I have designed a Distance Learning plan that puts your child's education at the center and makes the best of the circumstances. This plan will:

• empower my students to make choices about how they reach clearly defined learning goals
• engage my students in online collaboration with me and with each other to solve geometric problems
• support students with modeling, differentiation, specific feedback, and flexibility

The success of this endeavor is a partnership and depends on appropriate student motivation and engagement, and strong parent support for this alternative model of instruction. It is, however, an effort worth making as it will expand your child's academic progress and will attend to his or her social and emotional well-being by providing a sense of normalcy.

Estimado padre o curador:

Como maestro, estoy orgulloso de brindar una educación amena y de alta calidad. También estoy orgulloso de poder hacerlo en las circunstancias excepcionales que han requerido el cierre completo del campus. En tales circunstancias, mi compromiso profesional es proporcionar un medio alternativo de educación en forma de Aprendizaje a Distancia. El Aprendizaje a Distancia imita la experiencias que los estudiantes normalmente tendrían en mi aula mientras ellos trabajan de forma remota. 

Aunque no hay sustituto para la enseñanza en persona, he diseñado un plan de Aprendizaje a Distancia que pone la educación de su hijo(a) como prioridad y aprovecha al máximo las circunstancias. Este plan:

• le permitirá a mis alumnos a que tomen decisiones sobre cómo alcanzar objetivos de aprendizaje claramente definidos
• mantendrá a mis alumnos en colaboración en línea conmigo y entre ellos para resolver problemas geométricos
• apoyará a los estudiantes con diferenciación, con comentarios específicos y con flexibilidad. 

Este esfuerzo es un trabajo en equipo y depende de la motivación del estudiante, y del apoyo fuerte delos padres. Sin embargo es un esfuerzo que vale la pena, ya que expandirá el progreso académico de su hijo y fomentará su bienestar social y emocional al proporcionarle un sentido de normalidad.
